Gary Lennox

Gary Lennox - Owner & Camp Director

Dog House Music owner Gary Lennox is a native of New York, and moved to Boulder in 1995. His 40-year musical background includes playing bass guitar in numerous Bowery-era punk bands, as well as in acoustic, jazz, rock and metal bands. Gary played bass in the Colorado metal bands Tainted Saint and Wychkraft, and most recently in Denver punk band The Colfax Stranglers. He founded DHM after his band rehearsals in Boulder began generating noise complaints. In 2009, Gary was recognized as "Best Local Teen Advocate" by the Boulder Weekly.

Lindsay Polak

Lindsay Polak - Director of Marketing & Communications

Lindsay was raised in Colorado, and manages marketing, communications and business development at Dog House Music. She also directs DHM's Band Development and Promotion Program. A vocalist and percussionist, Lindsay founded punk band The Colfax Stranglers in 2006. In 2009, Lindsay's marketing efforts at DHM were written up by the Guerrilla Group marketing blog.

Dan Menchey

Dan Menchey - Camp Musical (Co-)Director, drums, percussion

Dan Menchey is 36 and has been drumming for 28 years. From third grade until college graduation, he participated in concert, marching, jazz, pit bands and orchestra. Since then, he has played drums and contributed vocals for bands in a variety of styles: classic rock, jazz, Latin, pop, bluegrass, hip-hop, metal, indie, & punk rock. Dan has toured the country many times and played festival stages including High Sierra (CA), 10K Lakes (MN), Magnoliafest (FL), Baja Bash (Baja), and Appalachian Uprising (OH).

As lead singer/drummer/songwriter of Boulder band Morsoul, Dan encourages all students to be comfortable on many instruments, including voice. He wrote, recorded, and played all the instruments for Morsoul's first album. Also the Co-Director for Dog House Rock & Roll Summer Camps, Dan is an experienced teacher of songwriting and band management essentials. Dan will turn a drummer into a percussionist, and a percussionist into a musician.

Jonah Wisneski, Camp Musical (Co-)Director, guitar

A native of New England, Jonah moved to Colorado where he studied classical guitar and theory/composition privately at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is versed in rock and blues styles, as well as some jazz along with his earlier forays into classical guitar. He has been performing throughout Colorado since 2002, and has played many stages in the Denver and Boulder area, including the Fox Theatre. He is currently gigging with his blues trio, Spare Change, and also recording his new solo band album which will be available in 2009. Jonah's own music reflects a variety of influences and blends multiple genres into a sound that is both familiar and new, with an emphasis on strong songwriting. As a leader of the Dog House team, Jonah hopes to spread his love for music to the next generation of young musicians.

James Dumm - guitar, songwriting

Dan McGarvey - songwriting, vocals, band coaching

  • Teaches all vocal styles, including pop/rock, classical, and music theater
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with Voice emphasis
  • Master’s Degree in Music Composition
  • 10 years teaching experience: private, K-12 and college-level
  • Currently studying Vocal Pedagogy at CU
  • Founder/director of the Vox Anima Choir in Boulder

Nate Barnes - drums

  • 16 years experience playing drums, well versed in guitar and bass
  • Rock, funk, and jazz background
  • Founding member and drummer of Rose Hill Drive
  • Helped write and co-produce two studio albums with RHD: "Rose Hill Drive" and "Moon Is The New Earth."
  • Toured the world with RHD opening for The Who, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Back Crowes, Wilco, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Gov't Mule among others; performed on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."
  • Now playing with Dualistics, a Denver-based progressive pop band.

Jimmy Stofer - bass

  • 15 years experience playing bass guitar
  • Teacher of bass guitar, music theory, and ear training
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance and Music Business at University of Colorado Denver
  • Rock, pop, funk, blues, and jazz background
  • Original touring bassist with Boulder's The Fray
  • Played bass with Meese, The Flobots, Rose Hill Drive, Cary Brothers, John Common, and many more.
  • Currently a member of denver-based bands Hello Kavita and Dualistics.
  • Toured the world with such bands as Weezer, The Pixies, Ben Folds, Paramore, Mutemath, O.A.R, The Killers, Spoon, and more.
  • Appeared on TV shows such as Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, Good Morning America, Ellen, and more.

Mirco Altenbach - saxophone, guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals, trumpet, flute, songwriting

  • 9 years experience in music instruction
  • Studied Music Performance and Composition at Humboldt State University
  • Currently performing with local bands Hot Soup and the Matt Flaherty Trio, as well as the Boulder Jazz Collective
  • Toured with national acts since 2005

Adam Lockwood - guitar, vocals, songwriting

  • 14 years experience playing guitar
  • Studying Music Business w/ a vocal emphasis at UC Denver
  • Specializing in songwriting and developing the craft
  • Currently performing solo and with local band Simple System
  • Has performed with several groups of different musical styles including rock, pop, and jazz

Jordan Linit - guitar

  • 6 years teaching guitar
  • 8 years guitar study with private instructors, plus 3 years of music theory and 5 years of jazz theory
  • Have played over 400+ gigs in the Colorado and central Missouri areas, and toured with original rock band Kinetix.
  • Studied with Mike Judd, Tom Williams, Sean Hennessy
  • Currently studying jazz guitar at the University of Denver
  • Proficient in rock, funk, blues, classical, jazz, metal, finger-style

Gunnar Hauge - drums, percussion

  • 20 years experience playing drum kit
  • Independent conductor/producer/arranger
