Camp Information

Dog House Music is excited to introduce its new Intensive Saturday Rock & Roll Workshop for Teens. This program is geared towards teen bands looking to develop their own material and play out locally. Whether you are an individual player, new band, or have been playing together already, these workshops will give you the opportunity to develop as a band, and start scheduling shows.

Ages 11 - 17, intermediate to advanced players

Open to individuals or bands

Bands will:

  • Write an original set list
  • Learn marketing/PR for bands
  • Make field trips
  • Hear guest speakers/musicians
  • Get booked in a local venue

Curriculum

Under the direction of our professional musical staff, students will write a full set of 8-10 original songs. Students will also attend seminars on marketing, the recording industry, band dynamics, and other topics relevant to musicians starting out their careers. After four Saturday sessions (9am - 4pm), students will be booked into gigs at local all-age venues, including the Fox Theatre in Boulder. Students will receive a CD of their live show, plus ongoing booking assistance through DHM's extensive contact network. Bands will also have the opportunity to audition for a spot at DHM's Teen Stage during the Boulder Creek Festival 2008.

Special Events

Top local studio and recording musicians will drop in for exclusive DHM performances; students will also hear guest speakers address special topics of interest to the teen music community. Field trips will include:

  • Colorado Sound Recording Studio -- one of Colorado's top digital recording studios, catering to both local and national acts.
  • AirShow Mastering Studio -- award-winning mastering studio.
  • OME -- handcrafted instrument manufacturer
  • Woodsongs Lutherie -- Guitar repair facility
